The Project

Sited in the northeast corner of the University of Leeds Campus, the development will involve the demolition of the existing estates department and renovation and connection to the Old Mining building. The new and refurbished buildings must meet the energy and CO2 requirements of Leeds City Council, Leeds University policy and a BREEAM Excellent rating. ZED was appointed by the main contractor BAM to provide thermal modelling services throughout the detail and final design process to ensure that compliance with the acting policies was achieved. The impact of Value Engineering measures could also be analysed in conjunction with the building services design. ZED also provided CFD services to assess the effectiveness of mechanical building services within the specialist and highly sensitive Electron Microscopy laboratories.
